Attendance and Participation
Although no course grades are based solely on attendance or participation, regular attendance and participation are critical to ensure interaction between students and professors.
You are expected to attend all scheduled class sessions. Two or more unexcused absences in a row may be grounds for disciplinary action. The course syllabus will have participation standards outlined in more detail. Satisfactory attendance is defined as attending 80% of the scheduled class sessions (excused absences for illness are not counted against this standard). Failure to attend four class sessions (unexcused absence) in a row or more than 20% of the total class sessions scheduled may be grounds for administrative withdrawal from the course. Failure to attend all class sessions over a two week period may be grounds for dismissal from the College.
Attendance is checked weekly. If there is a concern about your attendance (e.g. two days of unexcused absence, the Dean may notify your advisor to offer support or counseling). Again, if you are unable to be reached, after two weeks, you may be automatically withdrawn from the program and a notification will be sent. Your last date of attendance may serve as your date of withdrawal.
