Becca Hernandez
Becca, a senior at Oak Valley College, was gifted by God with the skill of a designer and inspired by her service dog, Raven. At just 14 years old she dreamed and created a custom handmade dog harness. Many people admired her creation and wanted to purchase one of their own, so she borrowed $10 from her parents for supplies and started sewing and selling. After paying her parents back, she reinvested her profits and a few months later Becca officially opened her own small business! Today, through a combination of tenacity and the knowledge she has gained, her business is thriving and growing.
The value of earning her degree in less than three years without debt, along with the small class size, attracted Becca to Oak Valley. What she has gained in her time at Oak Valley is much more than she expected or hoped for. She has a community of friends who love and encourage her and recently was married to a Oak Valley Alum! She states her classes and professors have taught her "the value of building her brand, product consistency, and bringing faith into all aspects of her business”.
Becca excels in her studies and recently shared with us that she is studying for the LSAT (Law School Admission Test). She is also looking to hire 2-3 employees for Becca and Raven, her first company. This will allow her more time to utilize Oak Valley College's Launch Pad program to start her second business, a line of Becca and Raven pet products before graduating in May. The young girl who was bullied in high school and fearful of starting college is now a confident young woman who is assured that with God all things are possible!
